—Safety and decisions
Electrical work in an apartment tower
Inside an apartment, the walls are yours; the risers, shared systems and rules belong to the building.
Apartment electrical work happens within a building managed by a facilities team or owners’ association. Most buildings require notice or approval for anything beyond minor repairs, set permitted working hours, and control access for contractors and materials. Shared systems — risers, meters, fire alarms, emergency lighting — are off-limits.
Safety and decision guides are advice for the reader. They describe practice, not a service level.
Within the apartment, the board and circuits can be maintained or altered with approval. Concrete ceilings limit cable routes. Coordinating with building management before starting avoids work being stopped.
