Electrical Services in Arabian Ranches

Arabian Ranches is one of Emaar’s earlier villa communities, first occupied in the mid-2000s, and many of its homes have since gained a converted garage, an enclosed terrace or a larger kitchen. Each addition hangs new circuits on a board that was not planned for them.

What shapes electrical work in Arabian Ranches

  • Room-by-room additions

Families often add a room, convert a garage or extend the kitchen, and each change adds circuits the original board was not planned for.

  • Garden living

Gardens with outdoor seating, barbecue areas and lighting rely on outdoor circuits that face sun and irrigation every day.

  • Labels drift

After several additions, board labels often no longer describe what each circuit supplies, so relabelling is a useful first job.

—Context

A board that has absorbed twenty years of changes

Arabian Ranches homes are garden villas, first occupied in the mid-2000s, and many have been adapted since — a garage turned into a room, a terrace enclosed, a kitchen opened up. Each change usually took its supply from the existing board, so the board today often carries more circuits than it was planned for, and its labels may still describe the house as it was.

That history makes two questions central before anything new is added: does the board have the space and capacity for another circuit, and does the existing installation test well enough to be extended? Garden living adds outdoor sockets, barbecue areas and lighting that sit in sun and irrigation every day.

Worth knowing before any work

  • What has been added or converted since the villa was handed over?
  • Do the board labels still match what each circuit supplies?
  • Is there a spare way on the board for a new circuit?
  • Which outdoor points are near irrigation or regularly washed down?

—Questions

Questions about electrical work in Arabian Ranches

Can my existing board take a circuit for an extension?
Only an inspection of the board and a look at the existing load can say. If there is no spare way, or the board is dated, replacing it or adding a sub-board becomes part of the job.
Why have the board labels stopped making sense?
After several alterations, circuits are often re-used or re-routed without the labels being updated. Tracing and relabelling them is a worthwhile job on its own.
What needs checking when a garage becomes a room?
That the new lighting and sockets are on suitable circuits, that the board can take them, and that old garage supplies — such as one for a door motor — are dealt with properly rather than left live and forgotten.
